Feedback

I just wanted to say that I enjoyed the presentation very much. As a former Wyoming and Montana resident (6 years and 3 years, respectively) I felt an immediate connection with the presentation. Even though I am a city slicker from MO, I herded cattle, mended fences, and fed and watered a few horses. I fulfilled most of my childhood cowboy dreams, even if I only go a small taste. Thank you for recognizing how hard that work and life is.

The people I met while living in the western states who were natives of those states were the friendliest people I’ve met, anywhere. They welcomed me to their communities and into their lives. They willingly taught this city slicker skills you can’t learn in a book. And they tried very hard not to laugh while I learned those things. And I learned more humility than I cared to.

As far as a take away from your presentation, there were a couple of things in particular that resonated. I traveled non-stop while living out west, so I was not able to get involved in the community in a formal way. I didn’t join any groups. However, once I moved back to the upper Midwest, I joined all sorts of groups. I was involved in everything in a big way, which my wife still fails to remotely understand. I think it relates to the “Do What Has To Be Done” principle. If something needs to be done, or should be done in my opinion, I have an obligation as a citizen to help get it done. And so I try to help.

The other principle that resonates is “Talk Less and Say More”. I am quiet by nature. Most of the time I do not have an inclination to say anything. It seems that there are always plenty of people who are willing to hold up my end of the conversation and theirs. The best compliment I ever received was when someone said that I don’t ever say much, but people should listen when I do. Enough said.

Thank you again.

Mr. Noble,

I recently attended your seminar at the Pinnacle Bank Annual Meeting in Denver. I did not find my certificate at the end of the program and one of the staff asked that I drop an e-mail with my contact information.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Standing Tall session and wholeheartedly believe that you have isolated many issues that help identify the type of person we are.

One of my principals that I try to project in my every day is " Treat others as you want to be treated yourself"!

I grew up on a farm/ranch in central Nebraska that borders the sandhills and the "cowboy way" is something that I get teased about but carry with a lot of pride. With all of the communication gadgets and accessories available to our children today I sincerely feel that we have bred a society of people that do not know how to communicate with others. Whether at work or on the street we have drifted away from the handshake and smile philosophy that I grew up with.

Would it be possible to get a certificate for the program that I attended in Denver. My information is listed below. Again, thank you Mr. Noble for your time and consideration. Your presentation was one of the best features of our annual meeting that I have ever attended in my 15 years with Pinnacle.

Fall Conference for Pinnacle Bank

“Start each day with a positive attitude and no excuses!”

I truly enjoyed your presentation at the conference in Denver last week.  It was very inspiring.  1 year ago I started the No Excuses plan for myself.  I had stopped smoking 2 years early and gained some extra weight, wasn’t the healthiest I could be.  So I decided to stop making excuses.  It is all up to me to make me better.  I started walking every day without making any excuses.  I lost 30 pounds my health has improved 100%.  Due to your inspiration I have renewed my “No Excuses!” plan.  I have challenged myself to do a 10k walk before the end of the year, and to always start my day with a positive attitude.  Thanks for doing what you do.  The world needs more people with positive attitudes and good ethics.

I thought this was one of the best trainings I have attended.  Ethics is a subject that has always intrigued me and my college classes didn't let me down.  I believe that the state of our country depends on the message you are sharing and would be ideal to teach on different levels in elementary and high schools.  I was really excited to hear your presentation and was on the edge of my seat.

Sadly, some of my co-workers didn't "get" what your message was about and didn't listen.  It is hard to make people understand the importance of ethical practices down the line.  I was very upset to hear people who felt the presentation was boring or too deep.  What a crock.  They are just too lazy to pay attention and stand for something critical to our nation.  I was inspired to be part of what you do.  I am not sure how I could help.  I have my MA in Education and BA in early child development with over 12 years working with the DoD as a Trainer.  Let me know if you have any ideas.

Feedback

The Standing Tall program at our DFS Benefits Worker's Conference in Cheyenne in June was a wonderful incentive to stop and think about what is important in my personal and professional life.  I'm very proud to be a Wyoming native and especially proud of the legacy we have.  I am thinking about the program available for the youth at my church.  Thank you for sharing.

One principle I have on my code that is particularly meaningful to me is:  'Don't be afraid of storms.  They help me sail my ship better.'

Douglas Courtot- UW MBA Standing Tall

Good Afternoon,

Kent Noble presented to the University of Wyoming incoming MBA students about the Standing Tall.  The code he had discussed with us was very similar to the codes from Scouting.  Since the presentation, I have received the Standing Tall certificate, which I have signed and displayed.  I have also made my own code of ethics/principles, which I have also displayed at my desk and I will do my best to live by.  Classes began today but I am actively searching for ways to better the community (including looking for volunteer work).  I look forward to informing more people about this community.

Respectfully,

Douglas Courtot
